Top 10 Flop Movies of Bollywood in 2013
Now days when movie budgets increase, so do the losses when it doesn’t do well at the box office. Today, despite collecting Rs 50-60 crores, there are films being tagged with a ‘flop’ status, lots of expectation now a days with movie to become entry in Rs.100 crore. Let’s get back to year and see which movie doesn’t match the expectation.
Himmatwala
Sajid Khan, who directed the remake, was very confident that his film would cross Rs 100 crore mark. After its release himmatwala was compared with Ram Gopal verma ki aag. Even Ajay Devgn’s presence not able to help the movie , turned out to be rather weak at the box office, because it was too long and not at all funny. Over all a big disaster of the Bollywood cinema as well as of year 2013.
Besharm
After Ranbir Barfi and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Besharm have a lot of expectation on box office but beharam poroved even with bigger star standing, script play the lead role in movies.
Once Up on A Time in Mumbai Doobra
Ekta Kapoor production was an unfortunate disappointment at the box office as the film also couldn’t live up to its prequel Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Ekta Kapoor’s sequel to Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara!, did not match up to the first film and turned out to be insipid.
Boss
Akshay Kumar’s Boss, had a decent opening but its box office collections dropped almost immediately after the film was panned by critics and failed to draw in audiences. There were many things wrong with the Akshay Kumar starrer Boss, the primary being the absence of a good script.
Bullett Raja
Bullet Raja’s slogan claims ‘aayenge toh garmi badyaenge.’ But opened below average at the box office, Tigmanshu Dhulia first multi starrer commercial movie failed on its first weekend .
Gori Tere Pyaar Mein
Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, with Rs.50 crore production budget unfortunately, was another big flop of 2013. It was repetitive and boring, with no chemistry between the lead pair, Imran and Kareena.
Zanjeer
The 2013 Zanjeer, which was a remake of the 1973 film of the same name, which had worked wonders for Amitabh Bachchan’s career, unfortunately turned out to be a disaster at the box office. Ram Charan, a popular Telugu actor, Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt, who plays Sher Khan in the film, could not save Apoorva Lakhia’s Zanjeer.
Policegiri
However, with audience been fed with numerous South remakes practically every month, Policegiriwas the chosen one to be ignored.The film had a decent start at the box office but it was all downhill after that
Yamla Pagla Deewana 2
Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 turned out to be one of those comedies that is a yawn fest. However, when compared to Yamla Pagla Deewana, this sequel didn’t cover any distance and was a disappointing Deol fare.
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola
Vishal Bhardwaj directed film boasted of quite a few notable names, was widely promoted and promised to give 2013 a good kick-start. However, this didn’t quite happen as after a reasonably good start, poor word of mouth started spreading on a rapid note.
