Except Ali Zafar’s performance and Katrina killing looks and yummy dialogue . Ali Zafar is outstanding and he’s the only reason the film was watchable. The tributes to Aamir, Salman, Shahrukh and Hrithik (Jodha Akbar scene) are probably the only scenes the audience seemed to enjoy the most and that was mainly because of the popularity of those stars.
Starring :Imran Khan,Katrina Kaif,Ali Zafar
Genre: Comedy , Romance
Director: Ali Abbas Zafar
Producer: Aditya Chopra
Average Critic’s Rating:
Ever noticed the similarity between Imran Khan , Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar ? All three look younger than they are and bear an incredibly fresh, genuine and genteel disposition. They’re easy on the eyes and pleasant enough to make the most banal look bearable.
First-time filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar avails of these qualities to fashion a feel-good, melodrama-free, candy floss rom-com about two brothers and a mutual love interest. In dreaming a picture perfect visual, however, Abbas Zafar overlooks one rather critical technicality.

It’s more than obvious with a self-explanatory title like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan that the story of the film would be about a guy falling for his brother’s bride-to-be. Predictability seeps in this Yash Raj romantic comedy from the title itself!
When Imran Khan does a takeoff on the three ruling Khans of Bollywood in the opening credits, you somehow sense that the film has defined its domain. And it isn’t long before you realize that the narrative is taking the route of Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge . By the time the boy comprehends his love for the girl, she is already engaged to someone else. Only this time it’s the boy’s brother – so it’s more of an inhouse affair!
Timesofindia | Gaurav Malani,
Yash Raj Films’ Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is a love story. Kush Agnihotri (Imran Khan) works as an assistant director in Bollywood. His elder brother, Luv Agnihotri (Ali Zafar) has a job in London. Luv has just had a break-up from his girlfriend of several years, Piyali (Tara D’Souza). Luv telephones Kush, asking him to bride-hunt for him. He’s confident that his younger brother would be able to find a girl of his taste, as both the brothers have similar tastes. Now begins Kush’s hunt for a duhlan for his brother. After many failed attempts, he finally meets Dimple Dixit (Katrina Kaif), daughter of a bureaucrat (Kanwaljeet), when her father invites Kush in response to a matrimonial ad for Luv. Kush is shocked to meet Dimple as he knows her as a wild, fun-loving, bold but endearing girl whom he had met five years ago on an excursion. The two families also approve of the liaison and so preparations for the marriage of Luv and Dimple begin in right earnest. Although the Agnihotris live in Dehradun, the marriage is scheduled to be held in Delhi where the Dixits stay. In the course of the preparations, Dimple and Kush fall in love with one another, a fact Dimple realises on the first day she goes out with Luv when he arrives in Delhi from London for the marriage. Dimple speaks her heart out to Kush who takes a little longer to realise that he too is in love with her.

There’s not much on offer in this film. Whatever is there is finished off in the first half hour. After that it drags. The twist in the tale, too, is far-fetched, not becoming of an intelligent love story. Sad, because it had talent in the form of Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif. And even though Katrina is having the time of a life in a care-free role, it is Ali Zafar, who plays Imran Khan’s older brother, who steals the lightning and thunder. Ali is an assertive actor who has a confident body language. He speaks even before he utters a word – with his actions. He is the only bright spark in this film. Dynamite stuff.
