Kareena Kapoor postponed birthday celebrations

The superstar, who turns 31 on September 21, has decided to cancel all celebrations owing to the ill health of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, father of her actor- boyfriend Saif Ali Khan.

Kareena had earlier planned a grand bash on Wednesday, to mark a double celebration. Apart from her birthday, Kareena was also in the mood to toast the blockbuster success of her latest release, the Salman Khan- starrer Bodyguard , which opened in August on the occasion of Eid.

“After Bodyguard, Kareena has taken a break from her hectic schedule to be with family and friends. Wednesday’s party was supposed to be a big one where she would catch up with buddies as well as relatives. Now however, she is in no mood to celebrate. Instead, there might be a quiet dinner with family members,” a source said.

Reports of Pataudi’s health problems cropped up earlier this month when the former cricket legend was admitted in a city hospital owing to lung infection. Pataudi’s son Saif and wife Sharmila Tagore had immediately rushed to Delhi to be at his side.

“Although Pataudi’s health condition has improved since then, it is obviously not the occasion to party. In fact, Saif, too, is in no mood to celebrate so the birthday will be a simple affair. Kareena is definitely worried about Pataudi’s health,” the source said.

Although Saif’s sister Soha Ali Khan has announced that Pataudi’s condition is stable, the buzz is that Saif plans to take his father to US for further treatment in case he doesn’t fully recover within a few days. Kareena has been dating Saif for over four years now, ever since she broke up with her former boyfriend Shahid Kapoor.

Over the years, the actress has become quite attached to Saif’s family. She is often known to take time off in between her busy schedule to spend time with her future in- laws at their ancestral home at Pataudi, Haryana. Saif’s mom Sharmila is quite fond of Kareena, who is said to be taking tips on Saif’s favourite dishes from the veteran Bollywood star these days.

Every year Kareena likes to spend time with her family on her birthday and ensures that her normally- packed date diary is free for the occasion. This year, Saif is in Delhi with his father but he may just return to Mumbai for a day to be with his lady love on her special date. Saif was, in fact, busy wrapping up his ambitious production Agent Vinod when he had to rush to Delhi.

The action thriller will see him reunite with Kareena on screen after their past dud outings together,Tashan and Kurbaan. Kareena is gearing up for the promotions of her next biggie, Shah Rukh Khan’s sci- fi extravaganza, Ra.One . The film is set for a Diwali release and the publicity blitz recently kicked off with the music launch in Mumbai.
